Do meta keywords matter for SEO anymore?
On-Page SEO
No. Google and Bing ignore the meta keywords tag for web search ranking. Keeping it can leak your targeting to competitors and invites spammy overuse.
What to do instead:
• Focus on information architecture, title tags, H1s, internal linking, and structured data to clarify relevance.
• Build topical authority: cover the cluster thoroughly and earn citations/links.
• Use modern tools (GSC, log analysis, entity extractors) to validate coverage—don’t chase keyword lists.
If your CMS still exposes a “meta keywords” field, leave it blank or disable it.
